Hallelujah SonShine
John 5:24 ESV
WILL I GO HEAVEN?
Not sure if you are headed for Heaven? Learn about salvation and how you can receive the gift of eternal life through accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Pray to bring Jesus into your life and heart.
Salvation is a gift from the Lord. If you want absolute certainty that you are going to Heaven, praying for salvation is the first step. It is not only about escaping Hell and going to Heaven, but also about being able to spend eternity with a loving God who wants to have a deep and intimate relationship with you.
He created you in His own image, specifically to be His child. You are the child of a king. He is a king who knew you before you were in your mother’s womb, who knows you now, and wants the best for you.
The Bible tells us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Until you have been saved by Jesus, your ultimate destiny is suffering the consequences of sin. The best news ever is that God does not want that for you or for any of His children. He sent His one and only son to take your place against the wages of sin. Jesus came to Earth, taught the word of God, died on the cross, and was raised to life again to rescue you from sin, bring you new life, and create an eternal relationship between you and God.
Salvation is not earned through good works, being perfect or reserved for only those labeled “good” people. Jesus came for the sinners, the hurting, and those needing to be healed.
Your salvation is God's gift to you. It is not earned by the things you do.
When we believe, we are given eternal life. The Bible says that the gift of salvation is for all people; all of humanity. Jesus desires salvation for all of God’s children. We all feel that we are unworthy of God’s forgiveness, but the word of God tells us that we are deserving. He intended this gift especially for you. Your sins and your past are not greater than God’s grace.
Jesus gives believers the Holy Spirit, which gives us a desire to become new, change and live for God. The Holy Spirit gives us discernment and the ability to recognize God’s voice and calling for our lives.
Jesus is calling you to believe in Him and trust that He has given His life for your salvation. Through His death, burial, and resurrection you are forgiven and able to live an abundant life with God here on Earth and in eternity.
When you are saved, you will begin to feel differently. You will have a desire to know God and follow Jesus; to seek and enjoy His presence. You will begin to listen for His voice through scripture and feel the conviction of sin along with the need to repent.
God desires a deep and intimate relationship with you that lasts an eternity. He knows the desires of your heart. He hears your thoughts, your prayers and knows your sins. He asks that you seek Him first each and every day. He is inviting you to develop your relationship with Him. You can do this through prayer, reading the Bible and talking to Him. Building a personal relationship with God is a lifelong journey that leads to everlasting life with Him.
BIBLE VERSES ABOUT SALVATION
The primary tenet of the Christian faith is based on the fact that Jesus is the son of God, the Messiah; that He lived, died, and rose again to bring the gift of salvation to believers. This is what sets Christianity apart from all other worldly religions. As such, it is not surprising that there are numerous Bible verses that refer to salvation as a gift and the ultimate sacrifice paid by our Lord and Savior. Some verses that share this truth are outlined here.
Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
2 Peter 3:9 NIV
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Matthew 1:21-23 NIV
"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means “God with us)."
Romans 10:9-10 NIV
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
1 John 5:12 ESV
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
Isaiah 12:2 NIV
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.
Luke 3:6 NIV
And all people will see God’s salvation.
Titus 3:5 ESV
He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 4:12 ESV
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 6:44 ESV
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.”
Acts 16:30-33 NLT
Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.
Psalm 37:39 NIV
The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.

To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 15:1-27 ESV
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
1 Peter 1:8-9 NIV
Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
Romans 5:8 NIV
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
John 3:16-21 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

2 Peter 3:9 ESV
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”
Matthew 7:13-14 ESV

Romans 5:7-8 ESV
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person-though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die-but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

If you want to receive the gift of salvation, pray this simple prayer. It does not have to be word for word and can come from your heart. The Lord knows what is in your heart and hears your prayer.
Heavenly Father, I ask You to come into my heart and rescue my soul. I admit that I am a sinner and I ask for your forgiveness. I confess with my mouth, and I believe in my heart that You are the one true savior. I believe that You sent Your one and only son to earth to die for my sins. I believe that He was resurrected so that I can have eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.
I accept the gift of the sacrifice He made on the cross to save me. I repent of my sins and want to worship you all the days of my life. Please transform my life and make me new. Lord, I give You my life and invite Jesus to take control so that I can accomplish Your perfect will for my life. Thank You for saving me.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.
HALLELUJAH!
YOU JUST GOT SAVED!
1 Peter 1:18-19 NIV
“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
This verse is important to note as many Christians will question if they are truly saved because they commit sin. God knows that to be human is to fall short of His glory. He knows that the nature of the flesh is to sin and that we need Jesus to save us from the wages of our sin. That does not mean that He wants us to ignore His word and sin on purpose. He wants us to repent of our sins and make a conscious effort to abide by His law. He knows what is on our hearts and wants us to seek His forgiveness. When you sin, you must confess and feel the power of conviction.
Theologians and many sources suggest that
this scripture gives us insight into the fact that our salvation was made permanent through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. The verse states that we are redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.
We were redeemed by a purchase made by the Lord, with the price paid being Jesus dying on the cross. Our salvation was purchased at the cost of Christ’s death.
Jesus does make it clear that He wants to know us and He wants us to abide by His law. Developing a relationship with Jesus is a crucial part of salvation. His word refers to the fact that He will deny knowing those who practice lawlessness. This does not mean you can never make mistakes, but it does mean that we cannot make lawlessness our standard of practice.
He gives us further direction in the book of Matthew, stating that we will be known by our fruits, meaning our actions and intentions. He explicitly explains that if we ignore His commands, He will say that He does not know us.
Matthew 7: 15-28 HCSB
15 “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves. 16 You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit; neither can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 So you’ll recognize them by their fruit.
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!'
24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. And its collapse was great!”
28 When Jesus had finished this sermon, the crowds were astonished at His teaching, 29 because He was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes.

Now that you have accepted the gift of salvation, you might be wondering what is next.
1. Read your Bible.
If you don’t already have one, check out our Resources page so you can find out how to access the Bible for free. The brightest days start with Jesus, so reading the Bible early in the day can bring you Hallelujah vibes all day.
2. Pray.
Connect with God Daily through prayer. Jesus gave us instructions on how to pray. Check out our post on our Inspiration page regarding how to pray.
3. Find a biblically based church.
If you don’t already have a church home, check out a few in your area. Consider joining a service with family or friends. Many churches also offer services online. It is important to get connected and have fellowship with other Christians.
4. Baptism.
Baptism is a faithful act in which you publicly profess that you believe that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and you intend to dedicate your life to Him.
The Bible discusses how Jesus told Christians to make disciplines of people and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Bible also tells us that Jesus set the example by getting baptized Himself.
JESUS INSTRUCTS US TO BAPTIZE ONE ANOTHER
Matthew 28:18-20 NLT
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Ephesians 4:4-6 NLT
4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.
5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.
JESUS BAPTIZES MANY CHRISTIANS
John 3:22 NLT
22 Then Jesus and his disciples left Jerusalem and went into the Judean countryside. Jesus spent some time with them there, baptizing people.
23 At this time John the Baptist was baptizing at Aenon, near Salim, because there was plenty of water there; and people kept coming to him for baptism. 24 (This was before John was thrown into prison.) 25 A debate broke out between John’s disciples and a certain Jew over ceremonial cleansing. 26 So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Rabbi, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you identified as the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going to him instead of coming to us.”
27 John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven. 28 You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’ 29 It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the bridegroom’s friend is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. 30 He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
31 “He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else. 32 He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! 33 Anyone who accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true. 34 For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands. 36 And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”
JESUS GETS BAPTIZED AND GOD IS PLEASED
Matthew 3:13-17 HCSB
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. 14 But John tried to stop Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?”
15 Jesus answered him, “Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him to be baptized.
16 After Jesus was baptized, He went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him. 17 And there came a voice from heaven:
This is My beloved Son.
I take delight in Him!
Faith is a strong belief in something that is not easily seen or empirically backed by tangible physical proof. It is a personal conviction and can be based on religion, spirituality, feelings or personal experiences. Just like we cannot physically see or hold nausea, love or fear in our hands, we feel them and know that they are very real. In Christianity, we have unwavering faith in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We cannot touch Him, but we know He exists. We know that He knows us by name and we know that He loves us.
There are many religions in the world, each with its own set of beliefs, practices, and traditions. Some of the religions other than Christianity include Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism. In the Christian faith, we believe undoubtedly that Jesus is the Messiah sent to save us from our sins and provide us the gift of eternal life. Our belief in salvation through Jesus is our saving grace and the basis of our faith.
Prayer is a way of communicating with God through Jesus as an interceptor. It is a way for us to connect with Him, build a deeper relationship with Him and ensure that he knows what is in our hearts. Prayer can be for the purpose of seeking guidance, support, discernment, healing or strength. It can be a powerful tool for coping with stress, anxiety, and difficult situations. We cannot thrive as Christians without prayer.
While faith and science may seem like two opposing concepts, many people believe that they can coexist. Science can explain the how, while faith can provide the why. The two are intertwined and not necessarily separate and distinct. There is science that supports many of the facts outlined in the Bible. If you seek the appropriate research, you will find truth. God created everything on this Earth, including science.
Religious practices can vary across different denominations of Christianity, from types of prayer and meditation to fasting, baptism, communion and reading scripture. These practices can help Christians connect with their faith and deepen their spiritual experience. The foundation of Christianity is consistent: Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.
Faith can provide a moral compass and guide people in making ethical decisions. Many religions have their own set of values and principles that help followers live a virtuous life. The Bible provides Christians a firm foundation, a rock on which to stand, and guidelines for living a live of faith. We concede that faith is larger than our fears or doubts and it draws us closer to God.
